A confidential library

Did you know that Château de la Bûcherie housed a secret library in a neo-Norman pavilion? The library is home to works collected in the 19th century by Ambroise Firmin-Didot, the former estate owner who was also a publisher, printer and a great scholar. The regional historian Alphonse Subtil said of him: “This ubiquitous man was a passionate collector, and the number of manuscripts, prints and rare books he collected is significant.” The library can now be visited on request only, allowing visitors to take a literary dive into the history of Château de la Bûcherie.
